Everyday Bread

This introductory class will teach you all you need to know to get started or to improve your bread making. Its hands-on approach teaches yeasted white and wholemeal doughs that become the basis for a range of different breads.

You will be taken through every step of the process, from ingredients and equipment, through mixing and working the dough, resting, proving, shaping and baking. You’ll be shown a modern, lighter approach to traditional methods, for bread making that fits into a busy life.

Introduction to Sourdough

Sourdough bread has become increasingly popular as interest in healthy eating and traditional methods has grown. Made with naturally occurring wild yeasts, sourdough bread has a great flavour, lovely crust, keeps well and is easier to digest than yeasted bread.

In this class you’ll find out what it is that makes sourdough bread so special. It’s hands-on with plenty of practical advice, suitable for keen bread lovers of any level. You’ll learn how to make and maintain your own sourdough starter (and be able to take some home); different ways to work and shape the dough and the secrets of using time and temperature to adapt the process to suit your life.

I have been CRB checked and also teach a cooking club at a local Primary School.

“ Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely day learning new things in a home kitchen so beautifully run.  The whole day was a real experience and I learnt so many  things I could never have learnt from a book.

Being such a small group we also learnt from one another, age and gender no problem.  I had never expected to bring home such a wonderful array of bread and a living culture!

It's the start of bread making again for me, just looking for my new scales...”
